Shipping must become 'greener'

UK shipping faces two challenges: carbon emissions and globalisation, secretary of state for transport Douglas Alexander told guests at Monday's Chamber of Shipping annual dinner. "It is more important than ever that shipping ... takes full advantage of greener technologies," Alexander said, pointing out that growing world trade means that maritime emissions are increasing, despite better fuel efficiency.
