The French Senate has passed the government’s port reform bill despite the opposition of port authority personnel who are staging widespread industrial action in an attempt to block provisions in it to transfer many of their number to the private sector.
The bill is now expected to be presented to the National Assembly in mid-June and the government is hoping to have it adopted as law shortly afterwards.
