Lerwick starts $12m upgrade

Lerwick Port Authority has started a £12m ($24m) port upgrade campaign to attract more offshore vessels and oilfield decommissioning traffic to the Shetlands harbour.

Lerwick is an important base for offshore vessels working west of Shetlands and a base for the growing North Sea decommissioning industry, but its facilities need to be improved to meet the challenges in the next decade.
