The Republic of Cyprus has received assurances from Syria that no agreement exists to set up a ferry line between Latakia, Syria and Kyrenia in northern Cyprus, officials from the Foreign Ministry told Fairplay late yesterday. "Syria is a friendly state and we are dealing with the issue in those terms. We have some assurances that the problem will be resolved," a senior official said.
