Lord Sterling is to become chairman of the National Maritime MuseumÂ's board of trustees.
The appointment, predicted by LloydÂ's List yesterday, was announced last night just an hour before several hundred guests arrived at the Victoria & Albert Museum for a reception in honour of Lord Sterling, who retired from P&O a week ago.
Lord Sterling will succeed Sir David Hardy, who will step down in November after 10 years.
