Later this year the Passenger Shipping Association, which represents UK cruise and ferry companies, will be 50.
But not to be outdone, Bill Gibbons, its director for the last 14 years, has just reached the rather grander age when people get their bus pass.
Some people are quite coy about reaching 60 but Gibbons, we suspect, will be straight down to his local council offices to get his entitlement.
