Medway Ports chief quits

Des Crampton, managing director of Medway Ports, has left the company, it has been confirmed, writes Felicity Landon.

It is understood that staff were told of his departure in a brief email from Peel Ports, which named harbour master Steve Gobbi as acting general manager.

Although abrupt, Mr Crampton’s departure is believed to have been by amicable agreement.

A highly respected industry figure, among his other positions Mr Crampton is chairman of Port Skills and Safety.
