Des Crampton, managing director of Medway Ports, has left the company, it has been confirmed, writes Felicity Landon.
It is understood that staff were told of his departure in a brief email from Peel Ports, which named harbour master Steve Gobbi as acting general manager.
Although abrupt, Mr Crampton’s departure is believed to have been by amicable agreement.
A highly respected industry figure, among his other positions Mr Crampton is chairman of Port Skills and Safety.
