The head of the Alaska Marine Highway System has submitted a letter of resignation to Gov. Sarah Palin, a spokesman for the administration said Tuesday.

Robin Taylor, who was appointed by former Gov. Frank Murkowski, has been on personal leave since Palin took office Dec.
