The Port of Genoa’s chairman has been placed under house arrest as part of an investigation into concessions received by terminal operators. Giovanni Novi, whose four-year mandate expired on 5 February, is alleged to have been involved in the ‘handling’ of public bids, diversion of public funds and bribery. The house arrest follows a police raid on Palazzo San Giorgio, Genoa Port Authority’s headquarters.
