The first female captain on the Guemes Island Ferry said she was the target of sex and age discrimination and was wrongfully fired from her job last year.
Skagit County officials said Patricia Hoyland-Smith, an employee of the Guemes ferry for 25 years, acted above her authority when she changed the ferry's schedule one day without approval, endangering and annoying passengers and crew.
