Brittany Ferries founder dies

Alexis Gourvennec, the charismatic chairman and founder of Brittany Ferries, died yesetrday, aged 71, after suffering for some time from cancer. His illness had prompted the reorganisation of the company’s management and the appointment of 38-year-old Jean-Marc Roué as vice chairman. Roué is now likely to become Brittany Ferries’ new chief. Gourvennec founded Brittany Ferries in 1972, launching a first service between Roscoff in France and Plymouth in the UK.
