NZ state takes ferry and rail back

The New Zealand government has re-nationalised the country’s inter-island ferry and rail services after last-minute negotiations with Australia’s Toll Holdings finally sealed the deal yesterday.


The government paid NZ $690m ($678m), $25m more than announced in May, but has so far refused to reveal details of the purchase.
