Hawaii Superferry finally resumed service yesterday after a months-long legal struggle and faced no protestor disruptions upon arrival in Maui. The fast-ferry Alakai had been out of service since September following environmentalists’ legal challenge to ferry-related port upgrades in Maui. Last month, the Hawaiian state government passed emergency legislation to allow the company to resume operations while an environmental review of port upgrades is conducted.
