Hawaii Superferry hits rough waters

Hawaii Superferry’s re-start has been battered by rough seas and very low occupancy, spurring an emergency appeal on passenger fares. Service between Honolulu and Maui resumed last month after the Hawaiian government passed emergency legislation to allow operations during an environmental review of port upgrades in Maui. But voyages have been repeatedly cancelled by high seas and anticipated passenger counts have failed to materialise.
