Passengers of Tauranga's first fast-ferry will get free parking on The Strand waterfront as part of a $25,000 council sweetener to launch the new service.

With only five weeks to go before the ferry starts plying its trade between Mount Maunganui's Salisbury Wharf and the downtown's Coronation Pier, the city council has given ferry owners Roger and Jean Leigh a huge confidence booster.
