Casualties as fast ferry hits whale

Twenty-seven passengers were injured yesterday when the fast ferry Kobee V, run by South Korea’s Mirejet, hit what is likely to have been a whale while en route from Busan to Fukuoka in Japan. There were 215 passengers on the vessel when the incident occurred at 1820, about 14n-miles off the South Korean coast. The passengers were transferred onto a naval vessel and taken to Busan.
