Breakdown-prone Boston ferry to be replaced in 2007

The high-speed ferry Flying Cloud, which has been prone to breakdowns, will be replaced by a new vessel for passengers traveling to Nantucket in 2007, the Steamship Authority board has decided.

Nantucket leaders in recent years have threatened to secede from the multi-island ferry authority and start their own service due in part to poor performance by Flying Cloud.
