Hawaii Superferry’s Alakai will be out of service longer than expected due to repair complications, while environmentalists have resumed their legal battle. Last month, management decided to drydock the Austal-built fast ferry from 13 February-3 March to repair cracks in the auxiliary rudders. By moving up the annual maintenance period, management also sought to counter very weak seasonal demand due to rough seas.
