Two Washington State Ferries that were pulled from service for safety reasons just before the US Thanksgiving holiday weekend have been given a reprieve. Of the four 80-year old, 1,490gt steel-electric ro-ro ferries one, the Quinault, is now in drydock where extensive hull pitting is being repaired. The ship is expected to return to service at the end of January. The Illahee is scheduled for hydro-blasting to remove paint.
