New Zealand ferry crews blinded by laser

Kaitaki - ChallengerA New Zealand man was remanded on bail in the Blenheim District Court this week after pleading guilty to aiming a laser beam at the Interisland Line ferries Arahura and Kaitaki as they passed through Marlborough Sounds.

The court was told crew members were temporarily blinded when Bernard Westbrook Long ‘endangered public safety’ on September 22 and October 12 last year.
