French fishermen take their protest to the English Channel

The French maritime prefecture in Cherbourg warned today that French fishermen protesting over fuel prices had created an increased risk of collision as they sought to slow down shipping in the northbound lane of the Dover Strait traffic separation system. 

The prefecture reported that a flotilla of 25 fishing vessels from the northern French fishing port of Etaples had moved into the lane at 0935 hrs and begun moving forward slowly in unison.
