Death ferry broke safety rules

Gross breaches in basic safety measures have been uncovered by the Bangladeshi inquiry into the Shourav-1 passenger ferry accident in which 49 passengers were killed after a collision. The government committee of inquiry has discovered that despite having a capacity of only 67, the ferry had seats for 150 and all were occupied when it set off from Dhaka for the neighbouring Munshiganj on 28 February.
