Thailand has announced plans to transform the country into a world-class shipbuilding country. "During the Thaksin regime a cabinet resolution was adopted to assign the Industry Ministry to promote shipbuilding and ship repairing services. There were plenty of meetings with the Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) and they were drawing up plans for shipbuilding and repair," said an anonymous official from the Thai Shipowners Association.
