Privatise Fincantieri, Prodi urges

Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi has pressed for Fincantieri to be privatised. Speaking at the handover ceremony of the new Cunard liner Queen Victoria, completed at the Marghera (Venice) plant, Prodi confirmed the government’s desire to float the state-owned shipbuilder on the Milan Stock Exchange. At present it is controlled through the Treasury’s holding company Fintecna.
