China rebuts US shipyard fears

News reports that China’s shipbuilders’ pose a ‘challenge’ to the US has been received coolly by Chinese diplomatic sources in the Republic. The anonymous diplomat emphasised to Fairplay, “China’s shipbuilding is in civilian hands,” implicitly rebuking Admiral Gary Roughead’s testimony to the House of Representative’s Armed Services Committee that civilian vessels can be switched to military use.
