Aker builds LNG ferries

Aker Yards Lorient in France has landed a €45m ($63.6m) order for three liquefied natural gas-powered ferries for Tide Sjø of Norway, writes Andrew Spurrier in Paris.

The order follows the delivery by Aker Yards of five LNG-fuelled ferry vessels for operation on the west coast of Norway.

The new 600 passenger vessels, for operation between Oslo and the Nesodden peninsula, are all due for delivery during the first half of 2009.
