Aker American Shipping will split into two stand-alone entities: a shipowning company and a shipyard. A new company will be established, Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA, with shares sold through a secondary sale and a $25M private placement. Aker itself expects to acquire shares to maintain at least 53% ownership of Aker Philadelphia Shipyard ASA. Meanwhile, Aker American Shipping will continue as the vessel-owning company in the wake of the Aker Philadelphia Shipyard spin-off.
